Amblyopia (lazy eye)

Unlike other diseases of the eye discussed, this  occurs congenitally (at birth) and occurs when the brain favors one eye over the other.  It is frequently called lazy eye because the eye that is not favored does not focus on the same object as the favoring eye.   Amblyopia must be treated early to have the best chance for successful treatment.
